Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB has denied media reports that Nnamdi Kanu apologized to president Mohammad Buhari. According to the interview ROWLAND GATE MEDIA granted to Mr Vincent Obetta, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, he said, the government was making every effort to puncture Nnamdi Kanu’s defense. Obetta said, this was another evidence that the government’s case is faltering when the prosecution is trying to use all means necessary to puncture the defendant’s case. The prosecution argued that Nnamdi “cast aspersions on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, and that Kanu made reference to the “President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile”
Most independent observers remarked that what the Nigerian government is doing in the Kanu’s case is indicative of the fact that Nigeria is in serious trouble because the government is obviously sponsoring lies against its own citizens. It should be recalled that the case against Nnamdi Kanu was discharged by a federal court but the government refiled new charges of terrorism against Kanu at another Court which the DSS maintains has jurisdiction over terrorism charges.
The federal judge had granted a request siding with Nnamdi Kanu’s position when he wanted to make a statement about his trial. Kanu said he could never get a fair trial at the hands of the Nigerian government and would rather prefer to remain in jail. The judge handling the case subsequently withdrew from this bizarre case.
